Inspirations can come from anywhere. The materials I use often ignite my imagination, revealing latent ideas and deeper concepts through play and experimentation with formal art materials—paints, inks, and various found materials on paper. Paper has long been my preferred surface due to its sensitivity, variety, and versatility, inspiring me in unique ways. Whether using highly textured paper I create or employing unconventional methods like pinning, embossing, and tearing, I find endless possibilities.

My recent work with free, spontaneous acrylic application on cotton allows for the transparency of watercolours combined with drawing elements. To maintain spontaneity, I explore different themes simultaneously. My desire to express deeper spiritual aspects of the self drives my paintings and prints, which aim to capture concepts of freedom, flight, and movement in nature. Portrait and landscape painting, life drawing, printmaking, and crafts are also significant in my practice.

While the blank sheet can evoke fear, entering the studio is both daunting and thrilling. I view this as a journey; making the first mark initiates exploration and discovery. As T.S. Eliot notes in his poem Little Gidding, “we shall not cease from exploration, and the end of our journey may lead us back to ourselves, and know that place for the first time.”Vivienne Bogan.

“Art is a spiritual practice, a way of connecting with something greater than ourselves.”
